Offering financial grants to qualified organizations to reinforce superior educational opportunities.
The Paul G. Benedum, Jr. Foundation
As Mr. Benedum considered how to make grants effective he pulled from experiences of the past and developed guidelines for giving. He decided that his Foundation would geographically focus on the Tri-State area of western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and West Virginia. The area was home to him and he saw a great need. He then considered the obstacles candidates might face socioeconomically, spiritually and emotionally.
He wanted organizations benefitting from Foundation grants to succeed and to use their success not solely for personal benefit but also to improve the world around them. He felt that when candidates shared their achievements a “multiplier” effect would result which would benefit families, mankind, society and the world at large. As Mr. Benedum continued to formulate his thoughts he came to believe that by giving to charitable organizations that shared his vision success would come.
It is now decades since the Paul G. Benedum, Jr. Foundation made its first grant. Since that day many lives have been touched, opportunities given and success achieved. Mr. Benedum strongly believed that his Foundation supported charities exemplify quality education thereby creating a better world for all.
